Obituary

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Maurice Dion of Bedell, on Thursday August 1, 2024, at the Upper River Valley Hospital at the age oof 82.

Born in Cornwall ON, on Aprill 6, 1942 to the late Maurice Dion and Doris (Frampton Dion) Legault.

Wayne started his career in journalism with his favourite assignment as a cub reporter for the Hamilton Tiger Cats and went on to be the editor of the Burlington Post, working at several radio stations and various roles. He'd say his days at CFTR, CHAM 1280, and CIHI 1260 were some of his favourite places where he truly loved his team. He also worked with the New Brunswick Treasury Board and as a reporter for CBC TV.

But Wayne's passion was boating with his great friends from the Mactaquac Boat Club, the Oromocto Boat Club and the Woodstock Yacht Club.

And nothing made him happier than organising restaurant outings and dinner parties at the Road Kill Cafe.

Besides his Parents, Wayne was predeceased by his beautiful wife Joy, sister Joannie Bentley, His dogs, Missy, Chopper, Misty, Grub, Buddy and Rocky.

Wayne Leaves behind:

Daughters Shelly (Tom) and Sharon (Kurt), Brothers Gerald (Sharon) and Gordon (Karen), Sisters Sylvia and Debi, His many nieces and nephews

And the Bedell Crew and boating pals who were not only his incredible friends, but they were also Wayne's extended family.

Wayne, Mary-Ellen, Jeannine, Joey, MJ, Rebecca, Linda, Bob, Nicole, Cappy, Janice, Doug, Kevin, Sylvia, Don, Myrna, Bob, Mary, The General, Debbie, Dana, Nicole and anyone we may have temporarily missed.

Words cannot express our appreciation for the incredible nursing care on 2 North, Upper River Valley Hospital. Best care anywhere.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 6, 2024 at the Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville NB from 4-6PM.
