It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Meijer on November 16th, 2023, in his 86th year, with his son by his side. Tom is predeceased by his wife Joke of 67 years. Tom and Joke were married in Holland and moved to Canada where Tom was working as a coalminer. After starting a family, they moved all over Canada where they decided Newburg would be there chosen place to reside.

Tom worked very hard building a few different log homes. He was always in the woods from sunup till sundown, that was his happy place. Tom also worked at Woodstock High School as a custodian causing all kinds of havoc with the students and teachers, to this day there are still stories to be told.

Tom was a proud father of Rick of Ontario and Ingrid from Mckenna New Brunswick. He also is an Opa to many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Thank you Buddy and Aldean Mcelhinney, for always making sure everything was looked after at the house to the North. You truly were the definition of "Friends" in Toms eyes.

The family of Tom would also like to give their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the Bayshore workers for looking after Tom during this time. A very special thank you goes out to "Tom's Girls" Melissa, Natasha and Jersey for always having his best interest at heart. You truly made his day every day and he thought of you as not just friends but family.

Visitation will be held at Carleton Funeral Home on Sunday November 19th 7-9 with a graveside service at Newburg Cemetery, Tuesday November 21st at 2pm

Donations made to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
