It is with broken hearts and much sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sonja Laverne (Boone) Koka of Woodstock on September 28, 2026, at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville.
Sonja was born on February 24, 1946, in Fosterville NB to the late John and Gladys (Vantassel) Boone.
Sonja is survived by her daughter, Beverly Dawn Boone, sons, Jeff Boone (Charis), Joseph Koka (Diane), grandchildren, Julius Koka (Arhan), Jonathan Boone (Serena), Sacha Boone, Tanya Wassermann (Clemens), Many Great Grandchildren, sisters, Peggy Bustard (Rodney), Sharon Kitchen, brother Bev Boone (Maggie), Nieces, Nephews and Cousins and many friends.
Sonja was predeceased by her husband Julius Koka, her son Little John, and brother-in-law Harvey Kitchen.
Sonja loved to cook, and everyone enjoyed her cooking, she always liked to have a gathering where she could prepare food for everyone. Sonja was not one to set still, she would sooner be waiting on people or cleaning up after everyone. She cared for her friends and neighbors and always made sure she asked about how they were doing. Sonja loved to read and spent endless hours doing so. One of her fondest memories was how she and her husband Julius would dance. Mostly she loved her family, and Sonja will be missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville, on Saturday October 3, 2026, from 1 to 2 PM, A celebration of life service will be held in the Carleton Funeral Home Chapel at 2PM.
Interment will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Kitchener ON at a later date.
If so desired, donations can be made to the Fosterville Cemetery in Sonja; s memory.
A reception will be held following the service at the Branch 11 Woodstock Legion, all are invited.
