On Wednesday, January 14, 2009, Sharon Wendy (Corey) Clark passed away suddenly at Upper River Valley Hospital at the age of 69. Sadly, she leaves behind her beloved and devoted husband of 49 years, Leighton, along with her mother, Louise Corey. Together, Sharon and Leighton raised five children: Peter (Janet), of Woodstock, Geoffrey (Donna) of Hampton, John (Evelyn), Christopher (Sherry), and Lori Thebeau (Wesley), all of Woodstock. She was a wonderful mother, and the joys of her life were her 9 grandchildren; Matthew, Nathan, Melanie, Noah, Rebecca, Isaac, Lacey Phillips, Grace and Lyvia Thebeau. She also leaves behind a large extended family of brother and sister-in-laws, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sharon spent her entire life living in the Woodstock area. Despite all of the "Clark Family Trips" that they took together, she was always so glad to get back to her beautiful Saint John River and the home that she loved so much. In her younger years, she worked as a practical nurse, which is where she met the man who would be her husband of almost 50 years, when he was her patient. After they married in 1959 and started their family, she left her work as a nurse to be a full time mother to their five children. Along the way, she was a life-long member of the St. James United Church, spending 37 years of that singing with their choir. Sharon loved to sing and loved music. She took so much joy in listening to, and watching the many talents of her children and grandchildren … she was so proud of all of her family. Sharon was pre-deceased by her father, Herbert Corey, who died in WWII, as well as her father and mother-in-law, Harley and Winnifred Clark. Visiting hours will be held at The Carleton Funeral Home 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville on Friday, January 16, 2009 from 6-9 PM with the funeral being held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 3:00 PM from St. James United Church 120 Chapel Street Woodstock, with Rev. Hazel Morris and Rev. Dale MacDonald officiating. Interment will be at the Kirk Cemetery in Northampton. At the request of the family, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
