It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Aline Bédard (Sirois) of Woodstock and most recently Canterbury NB on Wednesday May 8, 2024, at the Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton at the age of 80.
Rose was born on September 14, 1943, in Saint Gabriel Québec to the late Maurice Sirois and Marie Rose (Lévesque). Rose loved music, dancing and tending to her flowers at her homes in both Canterbury and Woodstock. Mostly Rose loved spending time with her family. In her final years Rose enjoyed spending time with her friends from "Jones Street" where they were known to always be the first ones to hit any dance floor.
Rose was predeceased by her loving husband Jean Bédard in 2016, her parents Maurice and Marie Rose, her brothers Réginald (Diane) Sirois and Paul (Francine) Sirois and her step grand-daughter Nathalie McCoy.
Rose is survived by her children Jacques (Michelle) Bédard, Sylvain (Jane) Bédard, Francis (Esther) Bédard, Lisa (Benjie) Waugh. Rose was a loving and present grandmother to her grandchildren Aaron (Cass) Bédard, Erica (Brian) Bédard-Dees, Cornelia (Sheldon) Dow, Alyse (Robin) Dow, Kristina (Travis) Webb, Jesse (Delaney) Bédard, and Colby Waugh. Step grandchildren Aaron McCoy, Nicole Hachey, Ayden, and Brady McCoy. And 14 great-grand children and step great-grand children.
Rose comes from a large family and is also survived by 10 siblings who all reside in Quebec: Jean-Yves (Fernande) Sirois, Noëlla (Claude) Theriault, Clémence (Darius) Sirois, Rolande Sirois, Réjeanne (Georges) Joseph, Bibianne (Joe) Roy, Fabienne (Ghislain)Sirois, Clément (Frankie), Solange (Réné) Côté, and Madelaine Sirois.
Visitation will be held at the Carleton Funeral Home at 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville NB on Monday, May 13 from 5-8PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church , 105 Union Street, Woodstock NB on Tuesday, May 14 at 11AM.
Interment at the St Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Canterbury will be held at a later date.
A reception at the St. Gertrude's Catholic Church Hall will follow the service.
The family has requested donations be made to the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Rose's memory.
A special thank you from Rose's family to the Palliative Care team at the Everett Chalmers Hospital, Woodstock Extramural nurses, and to Dr. Roseanne Goodine for their ongoing support and care during Rose's final months.
