Raised in Lakeville with the local lake and woods as his playground, he had sawdust in his veins and worked in the family sawmill; ending the last half of his work life at H J Crabbes & Sons in Bristol as a millwright and sawyer.  He met the love of his life Meda at Centreville High School.  Richard and Meda later married on September 10, 1955 and settled in Lakeville to raise a family of 4 boys. Richard loved his baseball and hockey.  He told stories of attending Red Sox ballgames at Fenway Park with his father as a youngster and later during retirement attended some Blue Jays games. He was a proud hat wearing Toronto Maple Leaf fan.  Richard accepted Jesus as his Saviour in his young adult life and was active in the Lakeville United Baptist church where he served as an adult Sunday school teacher and deacon.  Richard and Meda enjoyed having the family together for meals, he enjoyed gardening and hitting the road taking Meda wherever she wanted to go.

Thank you to the staff at Carleton Manor, Mountainside Lodge, Upper River Valley Hospital for their care,  to our faithful friends at Lakeville Good Corner Bloomfield United Baptist church, Pastor Trevor Savage, and also to the special Deal Road neighbours, who kept an eye on Richard and Meda in their later years.
