Phyllis Eleanor Kaye (17/11/1931), 94, of Hay Settlement, NB, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Phyllis spent most of her life in the area with her parents Lillian (Acton) and F. Carvell Tompkins.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Paul Allison Kaye, sisters Marion Kaye, Barbara Troy and Betty Hughes, and grandson Ethan Liston.
She is survived by her sons Douglas (Loree) of Woodstock, NB, Dana (Janet) of Watson Settlement, NB, and Allison of Hay Settlement, NB, grandchildren Virginia Liston (Jeff) of Hay Settlement, NB, Paul Kaye (Kasey) of Cranbrook, BC, Andrew Kaye of Ottawa, ON, and Erica Kilfoil (Ian) of Hay Settlement, NB, great grandchildren Emma Byram (Brendan) and Ryan Liston, Jordan and Hunter Kaye, Isaac and Owen Kilfoil, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Phyllis' love and care for her family was evident to all who visited her home.
Phyllis was an avid gardener. In earlier years she grew a wide variety of vegetables to share with family. More recently, she nurtured flowers and shrubs in several areas surrounding her home. Today's budding daffodils would be her first sign that spring gardening had arrived. Phyllis loved tending to her flowers and spending time outdoors.
A faithful dog was always nearby Phyllis providing companionship over her many years spent alone following the death of her husband. Most recently, her day to day life revolved around her Black Lab Jake.
Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road. As per Phyllis' wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral service at this time.
A private family grave side service will be held at the Hay Settlement United Church Cemetery at a later date.
If desired, donations can be made to the Carleton County Animal Shelter or a charity of the donor's choice.
