Philip Dalton
Carr
August 3, 1950 – January 23, 2026
It is with great sadness and loss that we announce the passing of Philip Dalton Carr, August 3, 1950-January 23, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
Philip was raised in Fosterville by loving parents Dalton and Audrey (Veysey) Carr, both deceased. At a young age Philip realized his calling was in the trucking industry with his longest employment of over 30 years with R&G Transport. He would pick up the milk at the local farms and deliver it to processing plants in Sussex, Saint John, Quebec, and Ontario. Philip loved his work and took great pride in his job. He loved trucks!
In 1991 Philip met Linda Fox and they soon realized they had met their soul mates. They established a home on the Bull Road and together raised their only child, a daughter, Candace Marie Lorraine Woodley (Chris). Philip was an amazing husband and father. He was always available to help his daughter with home remodels, repairs, and with good advice when she needed it. To her, he was Papa and that nickname soon stuck with friends and family. We had a saying "If Papa can't fix it, no one can".
Philip loved his home and spent many hours working in his yard or removing snow with his trusty Kubota tractor or entertaining friends and family in his garage. Another favourite was restaurant food, and he was always up for a good take out .After retirement, Philip enjoyed some travel before he became ill. He especially loved Cuba and the Gaspe.
Philip is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Candace, and son-in-law Chris.
He is also survived by his sister Jackie Farrell (Freeman), brother Ronnie Carr, and sister Carol Fryer (Terry). He is also survived by a brother-in-law Richard Elliot, brother-in-law Reg Fox (Dianne), sisters-in-law Cathy Mac Millan and Carole Fox. Philip is also survived by nephews and nieces Pam Donnelly, Lorna Harris (Steve), Karen Baglole (Alan), Chris Farrell (Danielle), Cheyenne Litwiller (Dave), Gary Carr, Audrey Carr (John), Sherry Gregoire (Allen), Darren Mallot, Charlene Geauvreau (Raj), Travis Fryer, Andrea Deschenes (Mark), Sherri Dickison (Nick), Amanda Fox (Darrell), Nina Fox (Sahil), and Jason Fox.
Not only was Philip predeceased by his parents but also a sister Evelyn Elliott, mother-in-law Lorraine Fox, sisters-in-laws Blanche Carr and Lois Fox. Also, nephews Floyd Nicholson, Troy Farrell, and Troy Dickison. Nieces Debbie Balak and Jessica Fox.
Philip received excellent care during his long and courageous battle with Cancer. We would like to thank Dr. Gray, Dr.Naz, the Saint John Regional Hospital team, Dr. O'Leary, URV Hospital, The Extra Mural team and special nurse Robyn, and all the support staff. A special thanks to Reg and Dianne Fox for always being there for Philip when he had to go to Saint John. They housed us, fed us, got Philip to his appointments through snowstorms and bad roads, and kept us sane. Thank you to Chris and Danielle Farrell for always being there. Thank you to our neighbor Garth Burtt for helping so much at our home, having good chats with Philip, and always bringing Papa carrot cake. So many people have made this journey easier for Philip, thank you all.
Philip loved his family, and also his fur family, Teddy his little dog who has stayed by his side, BoDiddley the rescue cat, and Phoebe the grandkitty, they are all going to miss his kind and gentle attention.
Philip loved life and lived it to the fullest, he was always the life of the party and loved by so many. He leaves precious memories, and lots of wonderful stories. He has left an empty space in this family that will never be filled.
As per Philips wishes, there will be no viewing or service at this time. There will be a graveside service and celebration of life at a later date in Fosterville.
For those who wish to make a donation in his name, we suggest the River Valley Cancer Group or an animal shelter of your choice.
