Obituary

It is with great sadness and much love that the family would like to announce that Peter James Issac Kennedy passed away at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer on December 11th, 2023, at the age of 74. Born on October 1st, 1949, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Peter's legacy is one of love, dedication, and community spirit.

Throughout his life, Peter remained devoted to his family, friends, and community. As the proprietor of Kennedy Building Supplies, he contributed to the construction industry, building homes for many years. Outside his commitment to work, Peter loved sports. As a youth, he played on provincial baseball and basketball teams and later went on to coach many teams in hockey and golf, leaving his mark on the athletic community.

For 13 years, Peter served as a dedicated councilor of the Woodstock Town Council, representing his commitment to community service. Additionally, he was involved in the Woodstock Old Home Week Commission. In his retirement years, he was an avid woodworker, spending countless hours in his workshop handcrafting beautiful, sturdy solid wood beds.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Diana (Stairs) Kennedy, daughter, Angela Davis (Charles), son, Derek Kennedy (Julia), and cherished grandchildren, Grace and Cameron Davis, Max and Jozie Kennedy and his faithful companion, Gus. He is also survived by his sisters, Charlene Scott of Brewer, Maine, Anita Haley (Steve) of St. Stephen and sister-in-law Marie Leach (Keith) of Fort Erie, Ontario, along with nieces, Anita Ann Richards and Heather Buck, nephews, Ryan Haley, Michael Leach, Patrick Leach, as well as Tim Latter and several other cousins.

Peter is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Josephine (Smith) Kennedy and brother-in-law, Clifford Scott.
