Paul DeWitt passed away Dec 14, 2019 at Central Carleton Nursing Home. Paul Silas DeWitt was born in Charleston, NB, Nov 13, 1929, the son of Adolphus (Dolph) and Althea (Humphrey) DeWitt.

In addition to his wife Vera (McLean), Paul is survived by daughters, Dorothy Davis (Gary), Lorna Stokes (James), grandchildren, Mitchell Davis and Beth Gauthier (Matthieu), Michael Stokes (Paula), Timothy Stokes (Zee), and Emily Carr (Jamie), and Great Grandchildren Charlie and Ollie Gauthier, Alem Stokes, Benjamin Stokes and Cole Garvin.

Paul was predeceased by daughter, Carla Reid Betts, Grandson Luke Reid, and sisters, Doris, Geraldine, Alice, Rita, Donna and infant brothers, Eldon and Donald.

Paul resided in Charleston all his life except for a yearlong adventure in Kitimat, BC at age 25. We heard many Kitimat stories growing up. He married Vera H. McLean on 18 April 1957.  Paul worked in the woods virtually all his life, starting at the age of 13.

We would like to thank Dr. Stocek and the Central Carleton Manor staff for their excellent care of Paul in his last years of life.

Visitation will be held at The Carleton Funeral Home & Crematorium 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville on Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral service to be held at the Carleton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday December 16, 2019 at 2 PM officiated by Pastor Doug Cook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charleston Cemetery or The Parkinson's Society of Canada or Crohn's and Colitis Canada or a charity of the donor's choice
