September 7, 1939 – April 30, 2018
NILES, Norman Douglas, formerly of Rothesay, passed away April 30, 2018 at Carleton Manor. He was born in Woodstock on September 7, 1939 to George & Dorothy (Andrews) Niles.
Norman attended Woodstock schools and received his Science and Education degrees from Mount Allison University. He enjoyed a career of teaching math and physics at Saint John High School for 36 years. He had an immense interest in planes, trains and automobiles with his ultimate passion being trains. He took great pleasure in travelling and spending time with his wonderful group of friends.
He is survived by his daughter Kathleen (Kate), spouse Bob Thompson their children Haley and Zackary of Winnipeg; son Douglas (Doug),wife Phoebe of Thunder Bay, his children Alex, Collin, Rose, Jack, and Charlie. His brother Donnie wife Kim, niece Jennie of Woodstock; brother Greg wife Jocelyn, nephews Ludovic and Nathaniel of Gatineau. Also by the mother of his children, Julia of Winnipeg.
Predeceased by his parents and his step-mother Ruth (Heustis) Niles.
The staff at Carleton Manor, who interacted with Norman daily, took excellent care and made his last years very safe and comfortable. We appreciate all the respect, empathy, concern, comfort and dignity provided to him. The professionalism shown to Norman certainly receives our most sincere esteem for all persons who provided his care.
A graveside service and interment for Norman will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Christ Church Anglican Cemetery at 11 AM. No flowers please.
