It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Neil Ian Lawrence on Thursday January 22, 2026, at his home in St Thomas at the age of 84.

Neil was born on December 31,1941, in St Thomas NB to the late James and Mildred (Kirkbride) Lawrence. .

Neil Leaves behind daughter, Susan Stuckless and two granddaughters, Paige Stuckless and Taylor Stuckless. Honorary Daughter, Valerie Zander and granddaughter Bobbi Jo McBurney and Sister in law, Rita Lawrence, as well as  Great Grandchildren Easton and Maci Mcburney.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife, Nellie Katherine, sons Cecil James, Dwayne Allen and Brent Neil, and son in law, Glenn Stuckless.

Neil is the last living relative of James and Mildred Lawrence. A hardworking farmer by trade, he spent his life working the land and serving his community through years of service through the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. His farming career continued well after "normal" retirement. He raised cattle up until this past fall, hand feeding them chopped corn and enjoying the work routine. He ate three farm fresh eggs each morning and enjoyed looking after the chickens and giving away the surplus eggs. He spent his retirement providing daytime security in Saint Thomas and always knew what was going on around the blocks. His pride and joy were bragging about granddaughters, Paige and Taylor while wearing his "World's Best Grampa" cap.

A public visitation will be held at the Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville on January 28, 2026, from 6-8PM.

Funeral service will be held Thursday January 29, 2026, at 2PM at the Carleton Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be held at a later date at the Wilmot Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wilmot Cemetery in his name.
