Mary Patricia Johnston passed away at St John Regional Hospital on October 13,2026, two weeks prior to her 86th birthday. She was born and raised in Toronto Ontario but spent most of her adult life in the Belleville area where she raised her 3 children.
She leaves behind, 2 sisters Jacqueline Burt (Tom) and Theresa Ashford (Terry), a daughter Anne Davis (Edward), a son, Christopher Ashton (Denise), 8 grandchildren, Tonya Kopp (Brandon), Sean Ashton, Jaime Whitney (Matt), Brent Ashton, Michael Davis (Ashlee), Nichole Ashton (Shoval), Nicholas Davis and Brooke Ashton. She also leaves 7 great grandchildren behind. She was predeceased by her parents, Graham Armstrong and Marie Armstrong (Keough), 2 brothers, Kenneth Armstrong (Colleen), Murray Armstrong (Lori), her son, David Ashton (Marylynn), and a grandson, Mark Davis.
After raising her family, she worked in the insurance business but especially enjoyed her job as a teacher’s assistant working with special needs children. She was generally a quiet woman who treasured her time living in the country in an old renovated schoolhouse, gardening, making pottery and long walks in the fields and woods of Prince Edward County. Along the way she collected a menagerie of animals, including cats, dogs, peacocks and chickens.
While she will be missed on this earth, praying she is at peace, pain free and happy with her savior in heaven.
Keeping with Mary's wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
Donations can be made to Carleton Manor in Woodstock, NB where she spent the last few years of her life.
