Obituary

It is with deep sadness and much love that we say goodbye to Malcolm Everett Watson. Mac was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who died on January 26th, 2025 at his home in Leduc County, Alberta. Mac was 73 years old at the time of his passing.

Mac was born on November 19th, 1951, in Woodstock, NB and was the beloved son to the late Everett and Gladys (Fraser) Watson.

Mac is lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Deborah; two children, Carrie (Josef) and Ryan (Melanie); four grandchildren, Isabel, Olivia, Cole and Charlotte; three siblings, Sharon Johnson (Curtis), Deborah Ann Watson and Stephen Watson (Hazel). Mac is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Brenda Keilty and his niece, Jennifer Watson.

Mac was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to spend his time fishing, hunting and working in his beautiful vegetable garden. Mac shared his enthusiasm for the outdoors with both Ryan and Carrie, teaching them to follow in his footsteps by taking them on many fishing adventures around Kirkland and Canterbury, NB, and providing them with memories that will last a lifetime. Mac was a Professional Transport Driver for over 35 years and while working at Midland Transport during the later years was the proud recipient of the Million Miles Award. For those who knew Mac, you are well aware that he loved to tell stories of his life long travels. No matter what the situation was, Mac would have a tale ready to tell. He left his footprint on every person he met, and touched the hearts of all with his kindness, joy and stories.

Mac was a sports enthusiast, growing up watching the Maple Leaf's and Blue Jays. Every year, he was filled with hope, telling everyone he spoke with that this was going to be the year the Maple Leaf's win the cup. When he was not watching his favourite professional sports teams, he dedicated his free time watching his children and grandchildren excel in basketball, baseball, volleyball and dance. No matter what he was watching, Mac could always be seen leading the cheering section.

Despite moving on from this world, Mac will still be leading the cheering section for the family he left behind.
