Louise Marie
Cummings
October 19, 1932 – March 22, 2026
Louise Marie Cummings, 93, of Woodstock, NB, passed away peacefully at the Upper River Valley Hospital, surrounded by family, on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clifton; her sister, Marilyn Bunting; her brother-in-law, Roy Bunting; her brother, Clayton Grant; her sister-in-law, Ferne Grant; and her grandson, Aaron Cameron.
Born and raised in Four Falls, NB, Louise was the daughter of Dorothy and Kenneth Grant. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Monica Smith, and her brother, Ross Grant (Jennifer). In 1950, Louise moved to Woodstock to train as a nurse at the LP Fisher Hospital. She went on to have a long and fulfilling nursing career at Carleton Memorial Hospital, a role she was immensely proud of. Her kindness, compassion, and dedication left a lasting impact on many families over the years.
Louise will be deeply missed by her six children and their families: Lynn Cameron of Calgary, AB; Michael and Crystal Cummings of Skiff Lake, NB; Gregory Cummings of Vancouver, BC; Tammy and Bruce Dunbar of Bedell, NB; Beverley and Paul White of Fredericton, NB; and Peter and Kimberley Cummings of Holden, ME. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Carina Cameron of Calgary, AB; Molly Ryder (Andrew) of Woodstock, NB; Kyle Dunbar (Misti) of Bedell, NB; Michaela Cummings of Ottawa, ON; Jessica White of Ottawa, ON; Jagger Cummings of Boston, MA; and Lenox Cummings of Holden, ME. Her great-grandchildren, Brier and Lyla Ryder, and Reese and Collins Dunbar, will especially miss MeMe's warm hugs and the treats from her basket. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who were an important part of her extended family.
Louise often reflected on how her world had grown smaller as dear friends moved into care or passed on, yet she remained surrounded by kindness. She was deeply grateful to the many people who checked in on her through visits, calls, messages, and FaceTime. She especially appreciated the nightly calls and help with mail from her neighbours, Lynda and Doug Swan. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Shirley Turner and Jesse Smith for their daily care and support, and to Dr. Katie Goodine for her guidance in managing Louise's health. Louise lived on St. John Street since 1963, and it was through this incredible network of care and compassion that she was able to remain in her home.
Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 27, at St. Luke's Anglican Church at 11:00 a.m., with Maria Shepherdson officiating, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louise's memory may be made to St. Luke's Anglican Church (stlukes@nb.aibn.com).
