It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorne Russell Saunders.
Lorne was predeceased by his parents Russell and Effie, brothers Floyd and Lewis, in-laws Bill and Muriel Palin, and brother-in-law D. Wayne Palin.
He is survived by his wife Sandra, sister Inez (Bob) Jones, sisters-in-law Marjorie (Larry) Clarke, Mary (Don) Wright, Reta MacIntosh, Ethel Saunders, brother-in-law Vaughn (Elsie) Palin, children Robert (Debby Stockford) and Michelle (Derick Daniels), grandchildren Jennifer (Josh), Heidi, Jaren (Khloi), and Landen (Addison), and great-grandchildren Caraline, Russell, Karley, Colt, and Westyn, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Over the years, Lorne had many jobs including volunteering for many years with the St. John Ambulance, being a landlord, laying carpet, carpentry, and running his own canteen, to name a few. Many people remember Lorne as an orderly at the Carleton Memorial Hospital. He later worked for his son at Napa Auto Parts delivering parts until he officially retired.
Lorne never failed to light up a room. He always had faces to pull, stories to tell, jokes to crack, and impressions to perform. His compassion for others never went unnoticed. Whether it was fixing a roof for a friend, taking care of all the neighbours, giving words of advice, or offering a big bear hug. His warm, welcoming presence will be greatly missed in every room, at every family supper, and through every holiday. He leaves a legacy of strength, humility, humour, acceptance, and love.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for Dr. Omotoso, Dr. Chase, Dr. Schaus, the New Brunswick Extra-Mural Program, Bayshore, and the staff of the Upper River Valley Hospital for their care.
