McElroy, Lona Eileen

It is with appreciation of a life well-lived and gratitude for many years of memories, that we announce the passing of Lona Eileen McElroy which occurred at the Upper River Valley Hospital on Sunday, November 19th, 2023. Born in Dow Settlement, New Brunswick on March 8, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Allan and Lila (Lutwick) Collicott.

Lona is survived by her loving husband of 57 years John along with her 3 sons Jeffrey, Eric and David. She is also survived by her 4 sisters Lois Furrow, Barbara Lyons, Arlene White and Linda Shannon, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lona is predeceased by her 4 brothers Lloyd, Aldon, Basil and Neil along with her 2 sisters Grace and Irma.

Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of 2 North at the Upper River Valley Hospital for the excellent care and compassion shown towards Lona and our family.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Carleton Funeral Home , 337 Lockhart Mill Road (506)-328-8430. In keeping with Lona's wishes, cremation will take place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In her memory, memorial donations can be made towards the Alzheimer Society or the Upper River Valley Cancer Support Group.
