Our loving Mother and Nanny, Lillian Grace Anderson, passed away peacefully in her sleep and surrounded by family at the Carleton Manor on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
She was born November 9, 1939, in Woodstock. After completing grade six, the highest grade at the Irish Settlement school, she moved in with her grandparents in Debec until she graduated high school. Next Lillian completed the secretarial program at the Vocational School in Woodstock before working for The Red Cross in Saint John and Toronto. She moved back home to Irish Settlement in 1958 to marry and start a family.
Nanny showed her love for her family in her many deeds. She planted a massive garden each spring, ran errands and did bookwork for the farm. Her hands knitted her love into new mittens and hats every Christmas for each grandchild in their choice of color. Nanny baked her love into countless homemade cookies, everyday meals and special holiday gatherings. She sewed her love and pride into quilts for every grandchild. Nanny never missed a birthday. She happily became the taxi for grandchildren and neighbors alike. Wherever they needed to be, she would take them. She loved her flowers, music, having her hair done, Tim Horton's coffee, puzzles and a good game of cards. Most of all she loved her family.
She is survived by her five children: Linda (Stephen) Robson, Fred (Gwen) Anderson, Ernie Anderson, Brent (Lisa) Anderson and Susan (Gary) Johnston.
Besides her children, she is survived by grandchildren Chris (Becca McGrath) Robson, Gerald (Grace Parks) Robson, Kenny (Joanna) Brewster, Daniel (Kelsey) Brewster, Shayne (Kourtney Bamford) Anderson, Kevin (Emily) Anderson, Kaitlyn (Dylan Weeks) Anderson, Dawson Anderson, Kaleb (Emily Hanson) Miles, Caitlin Miles, Nathan (Hillarie Schriver) Miles, Jessica (Daren Havas) Johnston, Jennifer (Norman) Rudolph, Alicia Johnston and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Lillian is also survived by her siblings Donald (Heather) Cowper, Jean (Donald) Hart, Anne Ritchie, Brian (Wendy) Cowper and sister-in-law Janet Cowper.
She was predeceased by her husband Ralph, her parents Walter Cowper and Margaret and Ben Kennedy, her brother Glenn Cowper, grandsons Michael and Christopher and great grandson Brayden.
Lillian was a most kind person and never wanted to be the center of attention, so her services will be private for family members only. Friends wishing to honor her are invited to make a donation to the Kidney Foundation or to a local charity.
There will be no public visitation and a private family graveside service will be held later this week.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville NB.
