It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Carol Rowland on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Upper River Valley Hospital at the age of 85.

Joan was born in Georgina Township, York Co., Ontario, on February 21, 1941, to the late Ernie and Thelma Rowland (nee Burns).

She is survived by her sons, James Lundbohm (Kathie), and Leonard Lundbohm (Gail); grandchildren, Rika (Lucas), Abigayle (Ross), Alexander (Kahlan), Ben (Nicole), and Amy; great grandchildren, Henry, Nevaeh, Luke, Tobias, Lucy, JP, Noah, Hannah, Emily, Lily, and Jackson.

Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her daughter Wendy Lundbohm, as well as by her brothers Bob, Ronnie, and Larry Rowland.

In keeping with Joan’s wishes, and spirit of generosity, her body was donated to Dalhousie University to further scientific research.
