Joan
Fish
October 11, 1961 – December 24, 2024
It is with much sadness and broken hearts that we announce the death of Joan Fish, of Mapledale on Tuesday December 24, 2024, in her home surrounded by loved ones and her special companion, Blue. Joan was born on October 11, 1961, to the late Ann Sutherland (Bradley) and James Douglas Sutherland. Joan was also predeceased by her father in-law and Mother in-law, Charles and Joyce Fish as well as a infant brother.
Joan is survived by her Husband and partner of 38 years, Brian Fish, her 5 children, Trevor(Danielle), Evelyn(Alton), Crystal(Laurel), Allison and Charles(Amanda), her 12 (soon to be 13) cherished grandchildren, Dawson, Keegan, Kale, Laken, Kaden, Kenzie, Adi, Connor, Asher, Rowan, Treyton, Vada and Baby Boy due in February; two sisters, Susan Sutherland, Janet McLellan(Wade), her brother Jim Sutherland (Judy), Aunts, Uncles and several nieces and nephews.
Joan was truly one of a kind. She was incredibly talented and creative with woodworking, painting, sewing and even knitting! There was never a time growing up that mom didn't have a project or renovation on the go. Joan had such a big heart, she adored children. After raising 5 of her own, she became the best Nanny to her grand babies. She continued that love by going to college and completing the Early Childhood Education program, which she was very proud of, and we were proud of her as well!
Growing up, joan loved playing hockey, which made it even more special when she became a hockey mom and Nanny! Nothing made her prouder than her grand babies!
She was the best mom we could have ever asked for. She was supportive and incredibly strong. She instilled her strength into all of her children, and we will carry that part of her with us always.
You put up a strong fight, right up to the end mom and we are so proud of you. We will love you always and forever, until we meet again, and we promise to take good care of Dad.
We would like to send a special thank you to the Upper River Valley Oncology department for the wonderful care over the last 6 years and to Extramural for their help in caring for mom in her final days"
Keeping with Joan's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.
If so desired, donations in her memory can be made to Extramural and the River Valley Cancer Support Group
Arrangements entrusted to Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville.
