The family of Jean Marie McCarthy (nee Smith) announce her passing on June 1, 2026, at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville New Brunswick.

Jean was born on September 22 ,1933 in Wicklow New Brunswick.

She is predeceased by her parents, Archie and Bernice Smith as well as sisters, Ethel Smith, Lillian (Perry) Frost, Doris Smith and brothers Kenneth Smith, Harry (Jennie) Smith and Oliver (Claudine) Smith.

Jean is survived by her son Dale (Joan), grandson Andrew (Jessica) McCarthy, their children Alex, John, Blake, and Jane, Granddaughter, Allyson (Matthew) Schrader and their son Grayson.

She got to enjoy her grandchildren and great grandchildren over the past decade while she was at Shaw’s Special Care Home through pictures, facetime, frequent updates of family activity and family visits when possible.

Jean was a long-time employee at McCain Foods.

No funeral arrangements have been made at this time but will be posted at a later date.
