Obituary

GESNER, INEZ MARTHA The passing of Inez Martha Gesner beloved Wife of the late Leo Victor Gesner, of Woodstock, NB, occurred on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton. Born on January 19, 1932 in Burtt's Corner, she was the Daughter of the late Gordon and Gladys (Bull) MacLean.

Inez was pre-deceased by her older Sister Winifred and Brother Eugene. Inez is survived by her four Sons and Daughter as follows: Son-Garret (Debbie): grandchildren Andrea (great-grandchildren Nicholas, Thomas), Emily (great-grandchildren Josephine, Alfred) and Heather. Son-Daryl: grandchildren April (great-grandchildren Seb, Zeke, Zade, Isabella), Katrina (great-grandchildren Logan, Blake); grandchildren Kelly, Jeanine (great-grandchildren Carson, Ellias, Parker) Aaron and Keegan. Son-Calvin: grandchild Victoria. Son-Garth(pre-deceased): (grandchildren Brian, Bradley) Son-Kirby (Susan): grandchild Matthew. Daughter-Shauna. Some of her great-grandchildren reminisced about their Great Grandmother who had a garden tractor in her backyard and who could "magically" pull carrots out of the ground/garden. Some of her Grandchildren reflected that "Grammie Gesner was filled with kindness and generosity for her Grandchildren. Every year she knit us matching sweaters, hats, and mittens. She baked us special cakes at Christmas and Easter. She was always trying to slip us a few extra treats on our way out the door after a visit. She loved to hear about everything that was going on in our lives and she loved to tell us stories from her childhood, to her life as a young Teacher, to her many years raising a family. As her Grandchildren became adults living away, she always made time to chat with them over the phone, keeping up on their lives, quick to remember all the special things about them and her great-Grandchildren too. Her mind always sharp with a heart full and selfless."

Also survived by Nieces Mary, Theresa, Rose Marie, Cathy, Terry, Carolyn, Debbie, Dea and Nephews Art, Chuck, Garvice, Girvan (pre-deceased), Donnie B, Bill, Teddy, Donnie M,  and many great nieces and nephews. Inez had several canine companions the most recent was Brody.

Inez grew up on a farm and in her early years before marriage was a Teacher in a one room multi-grade school. Of course, raising a family of six children took over for many years. During this time and later she volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher, Leadership in Cubs, Messengers, Brownies and Girl Guides and Woodstock Old Home Week, Hobby Show, Section Convenor. She worked many times as an elections worker.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafts, tole painting, ceramics, other artwork and gardening. Her cooking of varied dishes from scratch was like attending a catered buffet . She and her late Husband, Leo, often participated in the annual Town of Woodstock, Christmas house decorating contest. She was a member of the Woodstock Saint James United Church where she frequently cooked for special events.

Special Thanks to the Town of Woodstock Police Constable who assisted her leaving her House January 01, 2020. Also after her serious stroke Thanks to Dr. Kamal and Dr. Anderson and the caring Staff of 2NW, URVH and  Dr. Cleary, Nancy, Kelly and the caring staff of 4NW, DECH for their kind and professional care of our Mother.
