The death of Hugh Tompkins occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 20, 2010 at the age of 89. He was born in Hartford, NB on June 1, 1921 to the late Demic and Mable (Appleby) Tompkins. Hugh is survived by; his wife Bernice (Phillips); four daughters, Brenda Milbury of Hartford, Paulette Barriner(Bill) of Fredericton, Gail Ruth (Herb) of Woodstock, and Janet Bradford(James) of Alberta; two sons, Robert (Carolyn) of Jacksonville, and Lawrence (Cathy) of Jacksonville; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister Vera Hargest of Watson Settlement, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Violet McLean and his first wife Lorna. A visitation will be held from the Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Rd, Jacksonville, on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9. A funeral service will be from the Carleton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Pastors Ed Sealy and Carl O'Donnell officiating. Interment will follow in the Lindsay Cemetery.
