Gregory Alexander Cox, aged 69, of Northampton, passed away peacefully after a long illness on October 18, 2026 at the Upper River Valley Hospital.
He was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on November 25, 1956 to Christine and Reginald Cox. In High School he acted in Musical Theatre. At Red River College he was Editor in Chief of the college newspaper, which also included drawing cartoons, and writing editorials.
Greg loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart. He was a gifted guitarist and Gospel song singer. He loved to spread the good news of the Gospel wherever and whenever he could with whomever he could.
He loved to walk his dog, and to play scrabble; he was hard to beat. Greg was big hearted, gentle, modest, quiet, but filled with personality and a subtle dry sense of humor. While he often kept his gifts hidden, Greg connected with people from a wide variety of different walks of life. He was a man of few words, but worth listening to when he did speak.
He owned a sign making company in Quebec and later in New Brunswick. He worked for several years at Jolly Farmer Products.
He went to the Philippines in August 2004 as a missionary. He spent a lot of time in prisons there ministering to the inmates, which included helping them overcome legal hurdles to be released; helping them reconcile with their families; helping them get jobs; and just being a friend and a listening ear. He showed Christian movies in remote locations and started a regular street kids ministry near Manila. He also had a Bible Study there for college students.
He returned home to New Brunswick in April 2016 due to illness.
We miss him but know we will see him again.
He is survived by his brother Graham Cox, and his sisters Geraldine Tipping and Janet Clark.
There will be no public vastation or funeral service, Gregory will be laid to rest in the Jolly Farmer Cemetery in Northampton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Carleton Funeral Home & Crematorium.
