Geraldine
Mchatten
April 7, 1934 – April 13, 2026
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Geraldine Bernice Marie (Grant) McHatten of Woodstock on April 13, 2026, at Riverside Court at the age of 92.
Geraldine was born in Debec, New Brunswick on April 7, 1934, to the late Heber and Ella (Atkinson) Grant.
She is survived by her daughter Janet (Stephen) Sloan, Fredericton NB, sons, Gary (Brenda) Dixon, Sussex, NB, and Steven (Elaine Jeong) Dixon, Edmonton AB; her grandchildren Lauren Riley (Aaron), Eric Sloan (Cathleen Trafton), Zachary Dixon (Kaitlyn), Samantha Dixon, Hannah Dixon and Ashley Dixon; great grandchildren Holden and Amelia Riley and Jacob and Emilia Dixon, many nieces and nephews, and numerous dear friends.
Besides her parents, Geraldine was predeceased by her first husband John Dixon, second husband Ronald McHatten, grandson Matthew Sloan, and siblings Elva Wellington, Villa White, Frances Farrell, Wilbur Grant, Robert Grant, Eldon Grant, Josephine Lutwick, Maxine Anderson, George Grant, Edith Doody, Cecil Grant, Gladys Williams, Helen Williams, and Phyllis Dixon.
Geraldine seldom sat still. She was a founding member and past president of the Richmond Corner Recreation Council and volunteered many hours at various events in Richmond Corner. Upon moving to Woodstock, she became a member of the Woodstock Legion, St. Luke's Anglican Church, and the church Guild. Both the Legion and the Guild benefited from her talent and energy as she helped with many community dinners and social events.
At home, she enjoyed tending her flowers, baking, and chatting with her family and friends. She loved playing cards and sharing a good cup of tea and a biscuit. In recent years, books and puzzles filled many of Geraldine's hours. Her favourite activities, though, revolved around her family. Holiday visits and special meals shared with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought her the biggest smiles and the most happiness.
