George Benjamin
Richardson
October 27, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Benjamin Richardson announce his passing on October 27, 2020 after a brief illness. Born and raised in Lower Brighton NB, George was the son of the late George and Della (Cook) Richardson. After a brief foray to Ontario where he met his wife Elaine and started his family, George returned to Lower Brighton where he lived happily for the rest of his life. George remained close to Elaine's family in Ontario and Quebec and they held a special place in his heart.
George could always be counted on to rescue a stray cat or kitten, a friendly smile, a piece of trivia or a discussion of sports and cars. George was an avid runner and enjoyed the outdoors. He could be found running, biking or walking anywhere in or around Carleton County. He completed 24 marathons and numerous half-marathons and 10K and 5K runs. He loved being active, his family and his community. His wife, children and grandchildren were a great source of pride and enjoyment for him. George was beloved in his community through his decades-long career at Connell Chrysler, through his church and local running circles.
George was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Elaine (Ranger), his brother Lloyd, and son-in-law Neil Chase. George is survived by his son Dale (Nicole) of Hampton NB, their children Lucy, Ava and Jane, daughter Lynne of Lower Brighton NB, her children Emma and Aiden, sister Marilyn Brewer (Leonel), brother Paul, sisters-in-law Bev Walsh and Heather Eatmon, and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of Carleton Funeral Home where visitation will take place Friday, October 30th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. There will be a graveside service held at Lower Brighton Cemetery on October 31st, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Anyone wishing to make a donation in George's memory could do so to the KV Unit of The New Brunswick Extra-Mural Program, which was a tremendous source of support during his illness.
Due to COVID 19 social distancing and mask are required.
