Obituary

With broken hearts we announce the death of Edward (Ed) Leo Dickinson of Woodstock on Friday, October 27, 2023. He was 76.

Ed was born in Woodstock on October 17, 1947, to the late Roy and Clara (Patterson) Dickinson.

He is survived by his loving wife Terry (Miller) Dickinson, son Peter (Patricia Donnelly), grandchildren, Julia, Abigail, Clara, Willa, Bronwyn of New Maryland, and son Michael of Ottawa. He is also survived by sister Joan Sabean, Fredericton, brothers Roy of Island View, James of Woodstock and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Ed was predeceased by brothers Fred and Hugh.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 30, 2023, at Carleton Funeral Home from 5PM to 9PM.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday October 31, 2023, from the St. James United Church, Chapel Street, Woodstock at 2PM, interment at the Kirk Cemetery followed by a reception at the United Church Hall.

Ed was well known in Woodstock, having worked for the Town for 29 years, retiring in 2008. More than that, Ed was known as the guy you call when you need a hand. A longtime volunteer with Old Home Week and the River Valley ATV Club, he was also often helping Lloyd with Christmas trees, fixing something at Peter's house, or assisting a granddaughter with anything she might need.

The granddaughters all have fond memories of getting treats at McDonald's where Ed regularly met his friends for coffee. And we heard lots of stories about the hunting camp in Allendale, although curiously we rarely saw evidence of any actual hunting.

If so desired, donations in Ed's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to the Kirk Cemetery.

We sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Carleton Manor for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Ed while a resident there.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville, NB.
