Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts we announce the passing of June Dickinson at age 84.

Born June 30 1941 in Bedell, June was the daughter of Thomas Matthews and Nina (Kinney) Matthews.

Although named Edith June at birth, her father and mother thought that June sounded better, so she was known to everyone as June.

In 1961, June married Fred and they settled in Woodstock. While Fred was busy with his construction company, June quickly settled into building a family. Daughter Debbie joined them in October 1962, and son Deane followed in July 1971.

Mum loved being a stay-at-home mom, but she was also Dad's bookkeeper and payroll clerk. She was always there when we got home from school and we knew we were her priority.

Mum loved to cook and was known for her excellent soups, stews, sandwiches and chowders at her personal "lunch counter" on Sharkey Street and then Riverside Drive.

With her gift of hospitality, everyone in her sphere knew they could count on her for lunch, tea or coffee. We lovingly called her the "Queen of Lunches".

Mum was an amazing friend, the kind that listened, didn't judge, and always made time for others. Many a person sat at her kitchen table while June listened patiently to their concerns or problems.

After separating, June remained close to Fred's brothers and sister, and to her nieces and nephews who continued to call her Aunt June.

June found friendship and companionship with Carl, and they enjoyed Woodstock Slammers hockey and watching the Blue Jays.

Mum was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. She lived her life on her terms until 2024 when she moved into Carleton Manor.

Our sincere thanks to the staff (especially Natalie G) for the loving care Mum received over the past couple of years.

June is survived by her daughter Debbie McIsaac (Stephen) of Woodstock, son Deane Dickinson (Tracy) of Moncton, her two sisters, Julia Slipp of Kelowna BC and Marie Ridyard of Calgary AB, her grandson Spencer McIsaac (Meg) of New Maryland and Carl of Woodstock.

June was predeceased by Fred, her parents, and brothers-in-law Ernie Overdulve, Blake Ridyard, Hugh Dickinson, Ed Dickinson, Roy Dickinson, James Dickinson and sisters-in-law Marilyn Pratt and Gayle Dickinson.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday February 14, 2026 from the Carleton Funeral Home Chapel, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville NB at 2PM.

Interment will be held in the spring at Woodstock Rural Cemetery.
