It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Marie Davies of Wakefield NB on Saturday October 31, 2026 at the Upper River Valley Hospital at the age of 86.
Donna was born in Fredericton NB on August 25, 1940 to the late Eugene and Irene (Duffy) Burgoyne.
Donna is survived by daughters, Rhia (Tim) Mace, Darlene Shannajan, Gwen McCracken, sons, Ivan Davies, Owen (Cathy) Davies, her nine grandchildren, Adrain (Emma) Davies, Shauna Davies, Jaclyn Davies, Lisa Shannahan, Justin Shannahan, Stephanie McCracken, Brian McCracken, Adam (Sandina) Mac, Jenna Mace (Justin Goodine), and seven great grandchildren, sister Rhona Deveau, sister-in-law Diane Burgoyne.
Besides her parents, Donna was predeceased by her husband John Davies, sons-in-laws Larry Shannahan and Rick McCracken.
Donna grew up in Fredericton alongside her brother Danny and sister Rhona. She attended St. Dunstan’s School.
She would marry John Davies from Wales UK in 1957; they were married for 55 years.
Donna always wanted a large family and worked hard giving her 5 children the best life she could. She was a great cook and could sew anything. They lived in Quebec for many years racing horses before returning to New Brunswick in 1976. Donna always said she would return home to NB one day.
Donna worked for Canada Post for 30 years and delivered mail from the river road down to Benton every day. She got to know the people on her route and they came to depend on her and she would deliver rain or shine in no other car than her Volkswagen. She had five Volkswagen Golfs and it was the only car for her.
Her greatest interest was the race horses, first with her husband and them with her sons, Ivan and Owen. She would spend time out in the barn helping and enjoyed going to the races, especially at the Woodstock track. She traveled to many tracks during her life and she liked nothing better than a road trip. Donna loved watching the races on live video from all over the world.
Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her great joy. She always made sure that we took photos showing the generations. She liked having large gathering were all the family came. Every year on her birthday August 25th the family would gather at her house and celebrate.
One of her most favorite times in life was her five years she went to Florida for the winter. She spent her days helping her son with his horses and met many people. Donna will be forever loved, deeply missed and always remembered.
