Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the family of Derek David Clifford Schriver, affectionately known as “Heavy D” announces his passing at the age of 52. Derek was born on November 13, 1973, in Woodstock, New Brunswick.

Derek loved his children deeply and was incredibly proud of their many achievements. He is survived by his five children, Aslynne Schriver (Riley Boone), Landan Schriver, Kayden Schriver (Carter Peabody), Bransin Schriver, and Ryland Schriver; his sister Lisa Schriver (Ian Thomson); his brother Dwight Schriver (Krista); and his niece Brooke Schriver.

He was predeceased by his father, David Frederick Schriver, and his mother, Donna Marie Schriver (Stiles).

Derek studied nursing at the University of Presque Isle. He worked as a nurse at the Houlton Regional Hospital, Woodstock Manor and Perth Manor. He truly enjoyed his work – especially the time he spent connecting with the patients and residents, who came to appreciate his kindness, humour, and genuine care.

With a kind heart and easygoing nature, Derek formed meaningful connections wherever he went. He was known for his quick wit, easy laughter, and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. His warmth and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Above all, Derek’s greatest pride was his children. He spoke of them fondly and enjoyed celebrating their accomplishments and the people they were becoming.

He will be remembered for his big heart, his laughter, and his constant teasing. Derek’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to sincerely thank Integrity Home Health Services for the care and compassion they provided to Derek over the past three years.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville NB from 12 to 3PM.

A private family interment will be held directly after the visitation.

If so desired, donations can be made to the Diabetes Canada or to a charity of the Donors Choice.
