Obituary

Christine (Wolverton) Davies of Woodstock, NB, wife of the late Bennie Davies passed away at the Upper Valley Hospital in Waterville, NB on Monday, October 16, 2017. She was born December 1931, daughter of Miles and Rispah (Smith) Wolverton of Upper Knoxford, NB.

Christine had a long career in Nursing. She graduated as an RN from Carleton Memorial Hospital in 1954. After receiving a certificate in Nursing Administration in 1970 from Dalhousie University, she assumed the position of Supervisor of Nursing at Carleton Memorial Hospital. She obtained her Bachelor of Nursing degree from UNB in 1977. Following graduation, she joined VON Woodstock where she was supervisor of Nursing Services for north western NB until she retired in 1998.

Christine was a long time member of Woodstock Baptist Church. She was a board member of Carleton Manor for several years, helped with Kidney Foundation fund raising, and spent many hours volunteering for the Literary Program at the local elementary school. As a 'farm girl' she loved the outdoors – horseback riding, hiking in the woods, canoeing and fishing. She and Ann spent many happy days at their cabin on First Eel River Lake entertaining family and friends. She was a very loving and caring person.

Left to mourn is her dear friend Ann Henderson; son Eric; grandson Ben of Woodstock; granddaughter Erin Bakas (Alex) of Toronto; brother, Carroll (Edna) of Riverview NB; sister-in-law Peggy Wolverton of Medicine Hat, Alberta; cousin, Wayne Smith (Sheryl) of Fredericton; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Bennie Davies (1976); an infant son (Stephen); daughter Mary Ann; parents Miles and Rispah Wolverton and brother, Warren Wolverton.
