Obituary

It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Charles Franklin Calhoun, 87 of Woodstock, NB on March 16, 2024.

Charlie was born on February 11, 1937 to Lloyd and Robena (Pickard) Calhoun in Pokiok, NB.

He is survived by his wife Gloria (Roix) Calhoun of 67 years. His children; Cindy Depow (James), Kirk Calhoun (Jennifer), Craig Calhoun (Lani) and Stephanie Clowes (Ron).

His grandchildren; Matthew Depow (Morgan), Ryan Calhoun (Jarika), Emily Robins (Ken), Corey Clowes (Fiona), Craig Clowes (Tiffany), Katie Stalker (Thor), Liam Calhoun (Maddie) and Leah Calhoun(Nate).

His great grandchildren; Shamus Depow, Eamon Depow, Maeve Depow, Issac Depow, Charlie Robins, Violet Clowes, Leo Clowes, Calvin Clowes, Kade Calhoun.

He was lovingly known as Bub or Bubby to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Also survived by his sister Joyce Griffin (Phillip), brother Robert Calhoun (Ester), sister Nancy Campbell (Elias) and many nieces and nephews.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents, sister Kaye (Calhoun) Fox, brother in-law Medley Fox and nephew Danny Griffin.

Charlie had a long career of 37 years with NB Power. After retiring, he spent his time behind a steering wheel or the rear of a race horse. Driving the highways or back-roads of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Maine and New Hampshire to pick up or deliver vehicles of all shapes and sizes. If he wasn't on the roads, you would find him at the Connell Park Raceway. If he wasn't jogging or training a horse, he'd be out grooming the track, repairing fences or making sure the barn and runway were clean as a whistle. He loved driving and loved his horses!

Services will be held at the Carleton Funeral Home in Jacksonville on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Visitation from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM, the service will follow at 3:30 Interment will be at the Kirk Cemetery in Northampton at a later date.

Reception will follow at the Woodstock Golf & Curling Club, 132 St Andrews St. Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to IWK Children's Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Kids or DunRoamin' Stray and Rescue or Donors Choice
