Cecil Andrew
Grant
June 25, 1929 – November 14, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Cecil Andrew Grant of Union Corner, NB. He passed away on November 14, 2025, with his family by his side.
He was born at Union Corner, NB on June 25, 1929, son of the late Heber and Ella (Atkinson) Grant.
Cecil is survived by his children Sharon Griffin (Gary), Eleanor Kelly (Tom), Doug (Shawna) and Pamela. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kim, Charles, Melissa, Carie and Andrew as well as his step grand children Mitchell and Melissa Macmillan. Great grandchildren Landon, Keaton, Corbin, Colby, Easton and Hudson. Cecil also leaves behind his sister Geraldine Mchatten of Woodstock.
Besides his parents, Cecil was predeceased by his wife Marie, a daughter Joyce and son Raymond. Brothers George, Wilbur, Bob and Eldon. Sisters Elva Wellington, Villa White, Frances Farrell, Maxine Anderson, Edith Doody, Phyllis Dixon, Josephine Lutwick, Helen Williams and Gladys Williams.
Dad came from a family of fifteen. He learned at an early age to work hard, and he was an excellent provider for his family.
He loved when people visited and there were many. He could talk forever. We often teased Dad that he had the Grant gift to gab. He was even kind enough to pass it on to a few of us.
Dad had his share of health challenges, but he handled them with grace and never complained. At 96 years old he was still driving a tractor and plowing his garden. His heart was filled with determination, and he never gave up because things were challenging.
He was not one to interfere with choices people made. When he made a decision, he stood by it, and we are extremely proud of him.
Dad was kind and caring and always ready to lend a helping hand. He was giving of his time to his children and anyone who needed him. He was the last living original member of the community and remembered his fellow friends fondly.
We have many fond memories to cherish such as going fishing with an alder rod and string, drives through the woods and counting rabbits along the way, tipping and letting his daughters' put curlers in his hair on Sunday mornings, now that is a special dad. We love you, Dad.
The family would like to say a special thank you to dad's homecare workers Anne Estey and Tammy St. Amand for the excellent care they gave dad.
Also, a special thank you to Dr. Perley, Extra Mural, staff at the Upper River Valley Hospital, and the staff at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the United Trinity Church Hall in Debec from 2-4 pm.
