Obituary

At 91 years young, Brenda (Ryder) Wood passed away, January 29. 2024 at Loch Lomond Villa in Saint John, N.B. Born in Harefield, Middlesex, England to Robert E. Ryder (VC) and Rose (Fairbrother) Ryder on November 20. 1932. Brenda emigrated to Canada with her parents aboard the Queen Elizabeth I in 1946, settling in Hartland, New Brunswick. She married Thomas Wood of Fosterville on October 11. 1950 and settled on a farm in Waterville, N.B, where they raised their three children.

Brenda was an active member and past president of the Woodstock Forever Young Seniors Club. She enjoyed her various hobbies such as knitting, sewing, bird watching, gardening and was a very good painter. She also enjoyed time with her family at their cottage on First Eel River Lake for many years.

Brenda was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, her parents, Robert and Rose Ryder, brother Frank Ryder (UK) and several half brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three children, Rodnie Wood (Shirley), Saint John, Lorna Wood and Elizabeth Turner (Gordon) of Woodstock. She is also survived by several grandchildren, Jamie Wood (Monica), Heather Wood (Mark), Laura Beuhner (Trevor) and Shonda Burgess of Saint John, Thomas Clark (Jill), Amanda Campbell (Casey), Angela Turner of Woodstock and Ginny Hartwick (Jeff) of Calgary.

Brenda is also survived by several great grandchildren, Thomas and Ava Clark, Luke Hartwick, Eve, Jade and Rodnie Wood, Finesse Wood, Charlie Ivey and Jonathan Burgess , Bowen and Jaxton Campbell and great -great grandson, Thomas Roy.

There will a private family service at Carleton Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 7 at 11:00 A.M. Internment will follow in the spring.
