On December 9, 2024, Barbara Louise Lyons, a shining beacon of kindness and love in her lifetime and a beloved mother and grandmother passed peacefully away at the Central Carleton Nursing Home. Barbara was 93 years of age. Born on September 9, 1931, to her mother and father Lila and Allen Collicott, the second oldest sibling in a family of eleven. Barbara married LeRoy Lyons in 1950 and lovingly cherished her home, family, and community of Canterbury for many years. There they raised four children, Jackie, Dana, Darlene, and Debbie. A few years later they welcomed two more children into the family, our siblings Pamela and Derrick.

At the age of 86 Barbara moved into Shaw's Special Care Home for five years where she was lovingly cared for. Barbara lived out the remaining two years of her life at the Central Carleton Nursing Home where she became Queen of many Hearts. The staff and residents grew to become her loving extended family, and she was known to them as Barbie. She was recognized for her warmth, generosity, and the undeniable loving spirit accompanied by the laughter she brought into the world. Even though Barbara will be missed there is something appropriate about her departure. It is appropriate because she had lived out a full, complete life; she had accepted and known the love of God and of her family; her house was in order; she was ready to leave this world; she was a Christian and she loved God.

Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her beloved children, Jackie (Wayne), Dana (Gabriele), Debbie (Rolen), Pamela (Sheldon), Derrick (Marlene). Sisters, Lois, Linda, and Arlene (Ken). Grandchildren, Cindy (Greg), Blake (Beth), Christopher (Kate), Derrick (Emily), Jason, Michelle (Troy), Robert, Ryan (Rowena), Sherry (William), Josh (Sarah), Amy (Chris), William (Melissa). Sisters-in-law, Louise, Lena, Bonnie and brother-in-law, John.

Barbara is joined in rest by her husband LeRoy Lyons; mother and father, Lila and Allen Collicott; beloved daughter, Darlene and son-in-law, Wayne; Sisters, Grace, Irma, Lona and Winnie; Brothers, Aulden, Lloyd, Basil and Neil.

The funeral service will be held at the Carleton Funeral Home in Jacksonville, N.B. on Friday, December 13, 2024. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 with the service immediately following. Burial will follow at the Canterbury Cemetery. If so desired, donations will be accepted by the Canterbury Cemetery.
