Obituary

Ashley Henry Curtis began his life's adventures on Sept. 3, 1937 in Blackville, NB.  A son to Chester and Cora (Sturgeon), a brother to 9 siblings.

This large family eventually moved to McAdam where Ashley would meet the love of his life.  Ashley & Margaret made their 65+ year's commitment to each other on July 9, 1955.  Ashley was a dedicated CPR employee from 1953 to 1993 when he retired.  In 1972 the Curtis clan moved to Woodstock as Ashley had become a signal maintainer.  This allowed him to be home with his family.  For years he would board a train in McAdam to work away in Montreal for the week.

For years Ashley was responsible for the ice at the old Curling Club, the amount of pebbles he put on that ice would be in the millions.  He also enjoyed playing the game with his wife and many friends.

Margaret and Ashley were avid campers, spending many winters in Florida as well as their summer camping in Canada as well as the USA.  He was the type of guy that was always looking to make new friends.

Ashley never stopped learning.  He took a night course at NBCC to learn to weld.  He built a camp in Pole Hill, then learned to make Maple syrup.  He became a sawyer in his back yard.  His creative side was evident in his manufacturing of wood & metal art.  He was a true sharer of everything he had, fiddleheads, smelts, maple syrup and of course veggies from his garden.

His spirit carries on through the love of his life, Margaret and their family:  Ricky, Brenda and their daughter Beth; Ron, Kathy and their children Brian & Kerry; Debbie, Nick and their children Tasha and Chad; Vicky, Peter and their children Ash and Emily; David, Nancy and his sons Anthony and Riley plus seven Great-grandchildren.

Ashley was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Cora, sisters, Thelma, Vera, Hulda and Vella and brother, Aubrey.  He is survived by sisters, Olive & Shirley and brothers, Wilson & Kay, many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.

The family would like to give thanks to Richard & Marie McBride and Fred & Allison Harris.

The support of the Extra Mural program and Dr. Chandra allowed Ashley to spend his last days at home.  We are forever grateful.
