Obituary

The family of Alice (Vandemheen) Luimes is sad to announce the loss of their dear mother, Nan and Great Nan. Her death took place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Upper River Valley Hospital at the age of 86.

Alice was born March 1, 1939, in Putten G.L.D, Holland to the late Lubbert and Grietje (Termaat) Vandemheen. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Albert, in 2019. She was the last surviving member of her family, having been predeceased by her sisters Alberta Noort, Eibertje Leeman, Grace Cooper, Ali VanBeilen, Woutje Slater and her brothers Rene, Bill, Jake, Lubbert, Mac and Adriaan.

Mom was a caring, loving wife, mother and Nan. Spending time with her family was her favourite pastime, especially if it involved a rowdy game of cards or Yahtzee. Mom spent most of her life, and took great pride in raising her family, supporting her husband on the farm, and taking care of her beautiful gardens and home.

Alice is survived by her children; Carolyn (Carl) Munro, Elizabeth (Greg Harvey), Allan (Kim) and Glendon (Tanya). Her eight grandchildren; Jeremy (Jenica) Robichaud, Erin (Max) Drapeau, Vanessa (Jarrod) Briggs, Alexander (Shelby), Shawn Munro, Eric (Sonja), Will (Tiffany), Paige (Daniel). Her seven great grandchildren; Raelynn Drapeau, Dax Briggs, Lawson Drapeau, Felix Robichaud, Remy Robichaud, Skylar and Adler. Alice is also survived by sisters-in-law; Phyllis, Carol, Wanda, Ann and Wilda Vandemheen.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and a thank you to Bayshore and their staff, as well as a very special thank you to Stephanie Bell, for her many years of care, love and companionship for our mom.
