Michael
Twumasi-Boateng
May 8, 1948 – December 20, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Michael Twumasi-Boateng of Lakeville New Brunswick at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville on Friday December 20, 2024, at the age of 76. Michael was born on May 8, 1948, in Bogoso, Ghana to the late Kofi Manu and Afua Nsuwaa. A professor of engineering in his native Ghana, Michael's activism during a time of political upheaval landed him and the family in Canada in 1986. While maintaining strong ties to his Ghanaian roots and family, he quickly established himself as a respected member of the community in his professional capacity as an engineer, and member of the Lakeville United Baptist Church. He could often be found initiating a new yardwork project, visiting elders in the community, and supporting his children's academic and extracurricular pursuits. Michael was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and strangers alike.
Michael is survived by his wife Enyonam, his children, Afua Agyeiwaa-Boateng (Emmanuel Houédakor) of Montreal, QC, Adwoa Manu-Boateng (Yaw Nti-Addae) of Ithaca, NY, Kwame Twumasi-Boateng (Hue Hoang) of Ottawa, ON, and Akyamaa Twumasi-Boateng (Hannington Okello) of Ottawa, ON.
Grandchildren Eitel, Ellom, Addo, Mai, Edem, and Senyo.
Siblings Joseph, Agnes, Veronica, Matthew, Felicia and Nana Addo Baffour. He is predeceased by siblings Francis and Cecilia.
Visitation will be held on Saturday December 28, 2024 from 12 to 2PM at the Lakeville United Baptist Church, with the funeral Service to follow at 2PM. A reception will be held at By the Lake Community Center after the funeral service.
Interment will be in the spring at the Good Corner Cemetery.
If so desired, donations in Michael's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Good Corner Cemetery.
